Ghanaian businesswoman and Socialite, Rose Gold, has sparked reactions after stating that she would never marry a poor man.
She argued that financial stability is an important consideration when choosing a life partner.
Speaking in an interview with MC Portfolio on Angel FM on August 2, 2026, Rose Gold mentioned that poverty should not be embraced and urged people to strive to make a meaningful impact in life.
"I can't marry a poor man. Even a poor man is not mentioned in the Bible," she said.
The businesswoman further explained that she prefers to celebrate lives that have made a lasting impact, drawing a comparison with the kinds of funerals she chooses to attend.
"Even with funerals, I've never attended where they say, 'What a shock.' I only attend a celebration of life, a life well-lived," she stated.

According to Rose Gold, people who are financially struggling should prioritise improving their circumstances before thinking about marriage.
"What is a poor man doing with marriage? They should just be doing the Lord's work so that God will take them out of that situation because being poor is not a good thing," she shared.
She, however, clarified that her comments were not meant to suggest that poor people are less valuable or incapable of loving their partners.
"I'm not saying a poor man is not human or he can't love a woman. What I'm saying is that you should be willing to accept some titles for yourself in life," she explained.
Rose Gold also encouraged people to focus on building lasting legacies rather than simply acquiring wealth.
"There are some families who have built a name for themselves over the years, so even if they're not alive anymore, the name is still there. You should be eager to make an impact, not just get a lot of money to be called a rich man," she added.
