Former Greater Accra Regional Minister Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover has declared himself the only politician who openly identifies with and campaigns for the Shatta Movement.

Speaking on Adom FM on August 3, 2026, he said many public figures are reluctant to be associated with the fan base despite the influence of its leader, Shatta Wale.

Titus Glover said his commitment to defend the Shatta brand was strengthened following the widely publicised altercation between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

The incident, which unfolded on stage during the 20th edition of the awards, disrupted the live broadcast, leading to huge professional and legal consequences for both artistes.

Looking back on the events of that night, Titus Glover argued that the public misunderstood Shatta Wale’s actions and unfairly judged the musician.

“I am the only politician who openly campaigns for the Shatta Movement. Many people are shy about being associated with the Shatta Movement. I remember the day Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy had an altercation at the Ghana Music Awards. That was the moment I decided I had to protect the Shatta brand.

“We have condemned Shatta Wale too much over the years. When he got up and started walking, many people assumed he was going to attack Stonebwoy, but that was never his intention,” he said.

According to him, while Shatta Wale, like everyone else, has his shortcomings, his contribution to Ghana’s music industry and his ability to inspire younger generations cannot be overlooked, adding that he will forever be a Shatta fan.

“I believe it is important to protect the brand. I love Shatta Wale so much. Like everyone else, he has his shortcomings, but despite that, he has taken his craft to a level that inspires the younger generation. For me, once you’re a Shatta fan, you’re always a Shatta fan,” he said.
