Nigerian content creator Jarvis has revealed that her biological mother is seriously ill and that she deliberately kept her condition private to protect her from online scrutiny.

This comes after netizens questioned why her biological mother was absent at her wedding.

In a video making rounds online, Jarvis said: “My mom is actually sick. That’s the one thing I’ve been scared of — that nobody should find out my mom is not well. Tomorrow they might video her in her condition and try to use it against me.”

Jarvis admitted she fears social media users would accuse her of neglecting her mother because of her perceived wealth if videos of her condition had surfaced online.

“They’ll say, ‘Why don’t you take care of her? You have all the money.’ But the thing is, at this point money can’t solve it. It’s just God, faith and belief,” she said.

Holding back tears, the content creator paid tribute to her mother for raising her and her siblings despite the absence of a father figure.

“I love my mom and she tried. She tried, like she tried. She fought, she defended us without any father figure,” she said.

Jarvis also spoke about her estranged biological father, revealing that he is from Senegal and has been absent from her life for years.

According to her, he would occasionally call her “Aminata” when she was younger, but communication eventually stopped completely.

She disclosed that she has made several attempts to reconnect with him, including travelling to Senegal, but has so far been unsuccessful.

“Till today I haven’t heard from him. I’m the one searching. I’ve gone to Senegal. I’ve still tried my best,” she added.

The emotional video has sparked an outpouring of sympathy online, with many social media users expressing support for Jarvis while urging others to be more compassionate and avoid making assumptions about people’s private family situations.
