Ghanaian rapper Showboy has weighed in on the extradition of socialite Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, to the United States.

Abu Trica was extradited to the US in the early hours of Thursday, July 9, 2026, aboard Delta Air Lines Flight DL157, which departed Accra International Airport at 9:03 a.m. and arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York at approximately 4:00 p.m. local time.

His legal team, led by prominent lawyer Oliver Barker-Vormawor, had been fighting to prevent the extradition, but their efforts ultimately fell short.

Showboy, reacting on X, argued that Abu Trica failed to use the time available to him wisely, placing some of the blame squarely on the socialite himself.

"Their motion didn't go through. The judge made a decision and they started the process quicker than we did. Abu was supposed to be smart enough to do whatever was in his power not to move. Abu is a dull boy.

"If you have a great lawyer like this, all you have to do is follow his instructions and body language. The judge made the decision. Abu and his team needed time to appeal it. Time didn't give them a chance. Abu was supposed to buy time for himself," he said.

In a separate video, Showboy also took aim at what he described as Abu Trica's reckless flaunting of alleged proceeds, questioning how someone engaged in fraud could be so careless.

"You took $8 million from a client and you put the cash on a table and you were counting it? You made scam look so cool. It is not cool. And you were parading yourself as the youngest billionaire in Ghana. That was useless," he said.

The extradition follows an Accra High Court order issued on July 2, 2026, surrendering him to US authorities over his alleged involvement in an $8 million romance scam that targeted elderly Americans.

US authorities allege he was part of a criminal network that used artificial intelligence tools to create fake identities, build online relationships with victims and fraudulently extract money from them.
