The final will of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka has revealed clear instructions on who should lead the Kristo Asafo Mission in future, with specific restrictions on succession within his family.
According to paragraph 27 of the will, dated August 25, 2022, Apostle Kwadwo Safo stated that leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission should remain within a specific male lineage of his family.
The will explains that only his biological son and the male descendants of that son, from one generation to the next, are eligible to occupy the position of leader of the mission.
It further states that every person who succeeds leadership under this arrangement must bear the name “Safo.”
The will also expressly excludes other branches of the family from occupying the leadership position.
According to the will, no grandson through his daughters, or any male descendant born through the female line of his family, should lead the Kristo Asafo Mission.

In addition, Apostle Kwadwo Safo directed that no member of his maternal family should ever occupy the position of leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission.
The will states: “It is my wish and I so direct that only my male child and a male child of my male child from generation to generation shall occupy the position of the leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana and any such male child of mine or the male child of my male child from generation to generation shall have the name ‘Safo’ always.
“No male child of my daughter or male child of the daughter of my male child or the male child of the daughter of the male child of my male child from generation to generation shall occupy the position of the leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana and no member of my maternal family shall occupy the position of the leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana.”
Beyond the issue of succession, the late industrialist also made provisions for the leadership of his paternal family.
In the will, Apostle Kwadwo Safo appointed his son, Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, also known as Israel Kwadwo Safo, as the head of the paternal family he established during his lifetime.
He instructed all his children to recognise, respect and honour him as their father and family head after his passing. At the same time, he charged Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena to treat all his siblings as members of one family and lead them with care.
The will states: “I direct that all my children shall henceforth consider my son Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, aka Israel Kwadwo Safo, as their father and the head of the paternal family that I have established in my lifetime. They shall give him due honor, obedience, and love as their leader, father, and head, and Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, aka Israel Kwadwo Safo, shall also consider them as his own family members.”
