Ghanaian musician Coded, formerly of the defunct music group 4x4, has waded into the ongoing public debate over Ghana's power crisis, throwing his weight behind President John Dramani Mahama.
In a post on X, Coded expressed frustration at Ghanaians who continue to attack the government over the current electricity outages despite the well-documented fire that destroyed the GRIDCo substation at Akosombo which is the country's main source of hydroelectric power.

He also called out what he describes as needless politicization of a situation he believes the government is genuinely working to fix.
"Ghana, it's time to stop the politicization. This man is really trying to move this country forward, that's my opinion.
"We go do NPP NDC, NDC NPP saa, then nothing go happen," he wrote.
The musician also defended the government's handling of the Akosombo situation, arguing that the fire that crippled the facility was an act beyond anyone's immediate control, and that repair and restoration is the only logical response available to any administration.
"They say Akosombo, the main source of power, is burnt. So if the place is burnt, what do you want the government to do? Is it not repair he go repair am and change the old transformers?" he said.
He then threw shade at critics who he feels expect the impossible from leadership under the circumstances.
"Or you want make he put wires for e mouth inside to generate electricity for you?
"Only a witch who doesn't like good things to happen to this country," he wrote.
His comments come amid a broader social media debate sparked by the Akosombo substation fire, which forced a complete shutdown of the dam and triggered widespread power outages across the country.
Energy Minister John Jinapor has since confirmed that two generating units have been restored and that full capacity restoration is expected by the end of the week.
