Public Relations and Communications Officer for Charterhouse Productions, Robert Klah, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to grant organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) access to the Grand Arena for this year’s event.
Speaking with GhanaWeb’s Isaac Dadzie on TGMA Countdown, aired on April 28, 2026, Robert Klah explained that organisers have used the venue for several years, and switching to the Palms Convention Center would significantly affect the event.
He noted that although organisers are aware of plans to renovate the Grand Arena, authorities could consider postponing the works until after the awards ceremony on May 9, 2026.

“It is our plea that on May 9, the authorities will be lenient and allow us to host the 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards at the Grand Arena. It is not because we think we are special or deserve any privileges, but because it is the most suitable venue for the event.
“We have used it for the past few years, so this is simply a plea. We are hopeful that the presidency, which we know has the creative arts at heart, will consider our request,” he said.
Robert Klah further noted that the Telecel Ghana Music Awards is one of Ghana’s most anticipated award schemes and serves as a major source of employment for many individuals within the entertainment industry.
“We believe the authorities will consider the interest of the arts because this is one of the biggest nights for showcasing creative arts in Ghana. When we talk about creative arts, it goes beyond music.
“On the same platform, you see dance, fashion, logistics at their best, and creatives on stage, from emcees and hosts to media houses. It drives content and conversations across the country, with a strong social media presence that projects our culture,” he added.
