I am still warning that if the judiciary isn't reformed, refined or built to international standards, every talk about resetting Ghana is hollow and vapid. Ghana will never aspire to be a good country at a time when semi-arid countries like Burkina takes bold strides in every direction under the tutelage of a military leader with very keen vision of development. People need strict and stiff jail sentences including death sentence for armed robbery and murder to understand the stakes, in the state's aim at reformatory oversight.
If Agradaa is released from prison after duping so many individuals, some of whom have died from heartbreak, she knows exactly the evil she perpetrated and understands that getting out of jail or its evasion through corrupt judicial intervention doesn't help the individual. How is she going to regret her past actions if she didn't pay for it? And we think we're at the level of the West?
What a stupid country!

I hear what she is saying, but don't full agree that prison doesn't change a person. I think it depends on the individual. Some people may come out the same, but others take the experience as turning point to reflect, grow and make different choices, Environment alone may not change someone, but what a person does with that experience can lead to real transformation. I believe your story really say so.

I think she was treated as a celebrity in prison with her own room, special food, TV, etc; making it look like a vacation.

But what would she say when she didn't even spend a year there? Of course she can boast now because her so called sentencing wasn't deterrent enough.

Yes, Agradaa is right. Prisons in Ghana don't change individuals but embolden them. She has tasted it and has drawn her conclusion that, afterall if you have money and can bribe your way through, prison is just a piece of shit. Yes, she was sentenced 15 years but only served 9 months. And so what do you expect her to say? In order words, she's saying I'm going to do worse things, even worst, and nothing can happen to me. Yeah, that is Ghana's judiciary system for you. It's only in Ghana where a judge will go below the minimum stipulated sentence in the law, and give his/ her own judgment way below what the law says. And so Agradaa you're free, do your worst, and nothing can be done to you. Such a corrupt society we live in.
