1.Physical attraction is important but it does not last after a few decades. It is unwise to base your choice of a life partner on this alone. Character is far more important. Shared values are far more important
2.Marriage is never a 50-50 sharing arrangement. In successful marriages each person is giving at least 70% to the other. The reason is simple: what you think is your 50% may only be seen by your spouse as only 30%! Marriage works best between 2people who are “givers”. Conversely marriage is doomed when one or both marriage partners are mainly “takers” or self-centred.
3.Treating each other with respect and consideration in private and in public is essential. There is nothing worse than, insulting or complaining about your spouse to your friends, work colleagues and relatives. This makes reconciliation much much harder because your spouse may still have to suffer the consequences of your backbiting after you have reconciled to them. It leads to bitterness and long-term resentment when they realise that you have damaged them before others.
4. Common Marriage killers: laziness, lack of ambition and inability to plan ahead ,wastefulness, untruthfulness, unfaithfulness, selfishness, unforgiveness, untidiness and an overcritical petty mentality.
