Ghanaian actor Van Vicker has sued his colleague Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, for defamation, demanding GH¢10 million in damages.

In a writ of summons dated October 10, 2026, Van Vicker accused LilWin of making false and damaging statements about him in a video, which he claims have harmed his reputation as an actor, film producer and director.

The actor is seeking a court declaration that the statements made by LilWin were defamatory, as well as general and exemplary damages.

He is also demanding a public retraction and apology on news portals with the same prominence as the original publication for four consecutive weeks.

According to the court document, the dispute centres on comments LilWin made about Van Vicker’s alleged failure to fulfil his responsibilities on a movie project.

In the video, LilWin accused Van Vicker of spewing lies and failing to perform his duties on a film production.

LilWin claimed that he and his team had made several attempts to contact the actor over issues concerning the movie but had received no satisfactory response.

He further alleged that Van Vicker had failed to return his calls, despite having agreed to take part in the production.

LilWin also accused the actor of seeking public sympathy by speaking to GhanaWeb about their disagreement.

Despite his complaints, LilWin said he still considered Van Vicker a friend and was willing to forgive him if he apologises and explains why he had failed to respond to his calls.

He added that Van Vicker was expected to feature in his upcoming movie, “Journey to Africa,” but warned that the actor could lose his role if he fails to show remorse.

Van Vicker’s claims

In his statement of claim, Van Vicker argued that the statements portrayed him as a dishonest, disrespectful and incompetent professional who accepts roles in films but fails to show up for work.

He also contended that the comments suggested he was deceitful, arrogant and involved in questionable behaviour.

The actor further claimed that the statements created the impression that he had been banned from participating in Kumawood productions.

Van Vicker denied engaging in the conduct alleged by LilWin, maintaining that he was a professional actor, producer and director who followed the rules of the film industry.

He argued that the publication was made maliciously and was intended to expose him to public hatred, ridicule and criticism while damaging the reputation he had built over the years.

The court document also states that the statements remain accessible online and could appear whenever people search for his name on platforms such as Google, potentially causing further damage to his reputation.

Demand for damages

Van Vicker is asking the court to declare the statements defamatory and award him GH¢10 million in exemplary damages.

He is also seeking general damages for libel, a public retraction and apology, and payment of his legal fees.

The actor’s lawyer, Ebenezer Asare, issued the writ.
