The Ghana High Commission in London has announced the successful completion of the Kwame Nkrumah Film Archive Retrieval and Digitization Project, an initiative aimed at preserving Ghana’s historical audiovisual records and strengthening expertise in archival conservation.
The project was completed alongside a specialized training program designed to equip participants with the skills needed to preserve and manage archival materials, helping to safeguard Ghana’s cultural heritage for future generations.
The mission described the initiative as an important step towards protecting the country’s historical records, cultural identity, and audiovisual heritage.
It commended Rev. Dr. Chris Hesse, Dr. Rebecca Ohene-Asah, the trainees, and the Iron Mountain team for their contributions to the project and their commitment to preserving Ghana’s history.
The High Commission also acknowledged the importance of knowledge transfer through Ghana–UK collaboration, noting the role of such partnerships in building local expertise and supporting the long-term preservation of the country’s historical materials.
The completion of the project marks a significant effort to ensure that Ghana’s audiovisual history remains accessible and preserved for future generations.
