Ghanaian musician Belinda Ekuah Amoah, popularly known as Mzbel, has shared her views on marriage and how she perceives it.
In an interview with Zionfelix, monitored by GhanaWeb on June 4, 2026, Mzbel stated that she sees no reason to get married.
According to the singer, there are no benefits to marriage. She added that the duties often associated with marriage can be likened to modern-day slavery.
“I refuse to be that kind of woman. A man must be mad if he expects me to sweep, serve him breakfast, and clean for him. Doesn’t he have a mother? Your mother is supposed to take care of you, so if you are no longer with her, then you have to take care of yourself.

“That’s why marriage is not for me because I cannot do marriage. I see it as free slavery,” she said.
Mzbel further noted that she would not encourage young women to settle down due to what she describes as slavery.
“I won’t encourage young ladies to get married because I see it as free slavery. As for me, I will never get married. I am my own boss. I am both the father and the mother. I can be in a relationship, alright, but the moment a man asks me to do those chores, it’s over between us,” she added.
