KOD begged me not to mention him – KKD

Showbiz icon and TV/ radio personality, Kwasi Kyei Darkwa (KKD), has revealed a new twist to the rape case that got him arrested on Saturday, December 27, 2014.

In an interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso on The Delay Show on Viasat1 this week, the ace broadcaster disclosed that his brother and friend, Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), was with him at the African Regent Hotel the night the incident occurred, but went on his knees to beg him not to mention his name. In a very explicit interview, KKD gave a blow-to-blow account of what transpired without mincing words.

“KOD was there, he had knelt down begging me…and I want to make this public today that those whom he (KOD) mentioned their names, they should also come out to deny what he was lying.”

KKD elaborated how KOD had said he had been warned to stay away from him (KKD) because some people were working to tarnish his image. “Kwasi, two elderly men told me that some people are plotting evil against you, so I (KOD) should distance myself and that if I don’t, they will include me.”

KKD, who appeared to be in an emotional state, confidently told Delay that the truth is only one, and that he will not call her to demand that the interview be edited. “Why did KOD even beg me?” he quizzed.

The once very blossoming friendship and brotherhood between KOD and KKD seems to have now hit the rocks, if what KKD said or did not say in the interview is anything to go by. Using the story of a song by veteran highlife musician, Nana Ampadu, KKD disclosed that his relationship with KOD is not as it used to be.

Although their friendship is still not as it used to be, KKD says he is ready to support his friend and brother whenever need be.

“When his (KOD’s) father died, I went to the funeral because he is a family member; he is son of an Adansi. Tradition demands that I can’t abandon or neglect him. As for the funeral, I’ll attend; if there’s any bad news, I’ll be there to support; but I’ve learnt to be careful about some people. Not him (KOD) per se, but humans,” KKD noted.
