Coronavirus relief items: No one is demanding party cards – Klottey-Korley MCE

The Klottey-Korley Municipal Assembly says it will be releasing audio visual evidence that proves that nobody is requesting for a New Patriotic Party (NPP) membership card in the distribution of government’s COVID-19 relief items.

A few days ago, Member of Parliament for the area Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, accused the government of politicising relief efforts to persons hit hard by the restrictions imposed by President Nana Akufo-Addo.

But in an interview on Class FM’s State of the Nation programme with Blessed Sogah, the Municipal Chief Executive for Klottey-Korley, Nii Adjei Tawiah denied the claims.

In explaining why Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings was not involved in the distribution process, the government appointee said: “Directives came from above that we should make sure the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) is leading in the distribution and in our case, we are collaborating with our assembly members in the municipality and NADMO to get the work done.”

“We have pictorial evidence that this is what is being done, we have videos as well that we are putting out there that no one is asking for party cards before they give them relief items,” he added.

Mr Tawiah, however, said he would later engage the member of parliament for the area at the right time to brief her on the exercise.

“I know she is also busy going around, giving out relief items and we are also busy doing the same. I’m sure at some point we would have come together to compare notes to see where there are leakages then we can block,” he said.
