Former Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, Dr Dickson Adomako-Kissi, has cautioned against the growing practice of quickly labelling politicians being investigated by the state as corrupt before investigations and legal processes are completed.

Speaking on Channel One TV on August 4, 2026, he explained that such accusations can negatively affect the reputations of politicians and ultimately reduce the goodwill they enjoy among the public.

“I think that it is unfortunate that we are quick to label people as corrupt, and it has affected even how we do politics.

“I really think that the political class, we are doing something to ourselves, reducing the goodwill that Ghanaians have for us and the fact that we are overly excited to call anybody corrupt. I'm speaking from my experience from the Public Accounts Committee,” he stated.

He also argued that audit findings and allegations of financial wrongdoing must be examined carefully, noting that some reported irregularities may not always translate into an actual loss of state funds.

“I’m speaking from my experience from the Public Accounts Committee where the Auditor General comes up with very big numbers for us to only go in and then realise that, oh, their properties are actually there except for the fact that the completion of documentation has not happened,” he explained.

Dr Adomako-Kissi further warned politicians and public officials to be cautious when making allegations against their opponents, stressing that anyone could find themselves in a similar situation in the future.

“Today it is Miracles, tomorrow it can be any politician,” he stated.

His comments come after an Accra High Court granted an application by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to freeze five bank accounts and four landed properties belonging to the former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), Dennis Edward Aboagye, popularly known as Miracles.

The order forms part of EOCO’s ongoing investigations into the alleged misappropriation of about GH¢55 million at the IMCCoD, where the agency is probing suspected fraud, theft and procurement-related irregularities during his tenure.
