Citizens abroad donate computers to Tuobodom Sec/Tech

Tuobodom (B/A) July 25, GNA - Seven citizens of Tuobodom in Techiman Municipality of Brong-Ahafo resident abroad have donated three computers and accessories, valued at 15 million cedis to Tuobodom Senior Secondary/Technical School at a ceremony at Tuobodom. They are Mrs. Dora Paitoo, Mr. Emmanuel Amo Adjei, Mr. Samuel Amo Adjei, Mr. Kwabena Owusu Ameyaw, Miss Abena Ameyaa and Miss Joyce Anning, all residing in the United Kingdom (UK) and Miss Mercy Sarkodie who is based in the United States.

Mr. Emmanuel Amo Adjei and Mrs. Dora Paitoo, both resident in the United Kingdom, who presented the items on behalf of the others, said it was the desire of non-resident citizens to help raise the standard of education in the town.

They said the donation was the beginning of "many good things to come" and expressed the hope that the computers would help more students to have access to the computer programme of the school.

They advised the students to use the items judiciously to ensure their longer life span.

Mr. Philip H. Appiah, Headmaster, who received the items, expressed his appreciation to the donors, saying the computers had come at the right time.

He explained that only 10 out of the school's 25 computers for the nearly 400 students in the school were functioning.

Mr. Appiah called on other philanthropists, home and abroad to assist the school since the Government alone could not provide the needs of all schools in the country.

He assured the benefactors that the computers would be used for the realization of the objectives for which they were donated and that the culture of maintenance would be the school's prime concern to ensure their longer life-span.
