The death is reported of Brigadier General Mensah-Yawson

Accra, April 27, GNA- The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Wednesday announced the death of Brigadier General Francis Mensah-Yawson, Defence Advisor at the Ghana High Commission in India.

A statement issued by the GAF and signed by Colonel E.W.K. Nibo, Director of Public Relations said Brigadier General Mensah-Yawson died on April 16, this year in New Delhi, India after a short illness.

It said the body of Brigadier General Mensah-Yawson was flown in on Monday from India and was received at the airport by Professor Mike Ocquaye, Minister of Energy and former Ghana's High Commissioner in India, Lieutenant General Seth K Obeng, Chief of Defence Staff, Chief Director Ministry of Defence, Service chiefs and some senior military officers and their wives.

The statement said until his appointment in 2003 as the Defence Adviser to India, Brigadier General Mensah-Yawson was the Chief of Staff at the Ghana Armed Forces, General Headquarters. It said the burial and funeral announcement would be announced later.
