UK High Commissioner is bereaved

Accra (Ghana) ? 27 April 2005 ? Ghana?s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, H E Isaac Osei, has lost his mother-in-law, Mrs Justina Ama Asantewaa Dokyi. She died at the Korle-bu Teaching hospital in Accra after a protracted illness. H E Osei has flown in from London for the burial and final funeral rites, which take place at Akyem Kukurantumi in the Eastern Region of Ghana on Saturday 30 April.

Mrs Dokyi was born in Kukurantumi in 1924 to the late Opanin Yaw Mante, chief linguist and Madam Adwoa Boatemaa, both of Kukurantumi. In 1942, she married Mr. Asare-Dokyi, aka Teacher Bossman and together they travelled the width and breadth of Ghana in furtherance of her husband?s profession. They are blessed with 14 children, 57 grand children and 11 great grand children.

A devote Catholic, Mrs Dokyi never missed her morning mass at the Sacred Heart Parish at Kukurantumi. An usher, lay reader and a patron of the singing band, her house door was always left ajar to the religious and lay faithful.

Commenting on the loss, H E Osei said ?She was a kind, humble and good Christian who will be solely missed by all who knew and interacted with her.?
