Ghanaian delegation attend technical challenge in Kenya

A Ghanaian Delegation consisting of three students and one lecturer representing the Technical Universities have left the country to represent Ghana at the annual African Techn Challenge (ATC).

The delegation which consists of three students from both the Kumasi Technical University and Accra Technical University were led by a Lecturer Mr Anthony Deku from the Accra Technical University.

The students are namely Frederick Adusei, Emmanuel Aidoo and Samson Otchere.
The group is part of 18 teams including 13 Kenyan teams and 5 International teams from Zambia, Uganda, Ghana, Gabon, and Cote D’Ivoire.

The students are expected to undergo a three weeks training program to equip them with CNC lathe machining and mechatronic engineering techniques and job-related professional qualities after which they would engage in the final competition.

The participants would also gain extensive training to help them adapt to the current industrial occupational standards and technology development trend worldwide.

The competition is focused mainly in the area of Mechatronics and CNC Lathe Machining.

Awards include monetary award for top 6 teams, contract worth 100,000 USD for the top two teams of the CNC Contest and Scholarships to prestigious Universities in China for top three participants.

The ATC is an annual Corporate Social Responsibility project organised by AVIC-International in a bid to give back valuable skills to African youth.

This year’s edition is the fifth since the program begun in 2014.
