GPSF North America to hold 14th annual conference

The Ghana Physicians and Surgeons Foundation of North America is having it's annual conference in April 2016 in Atlanta.

The theme for the conference is: ‘A Critical Appraisal of Health Literacy in Africa – Challenges and Possible Solutions

As part of efforts to amplify their commitment to the health of Ghanaians and strengthen communication and ties between healthcare professionals in Ghana and the North American diaspora, the Ghana Physicians & Surgeons Foundation of North America (GPSF), allied healthcare practitioners, and related organizations are preparing for the 14th Annual GPSF Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, USA on April 22nd – 24th, 2016. The theme of this year’s conference is: ‘A Critical Appraisal of Health Literacy in Africa – Challenges and Possible Solutions.’

In the spirit of collaboration, this year’s conference will attract representatives from the Ghana Ministry of Health and the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. The Minister of Health, Hon. Mr. Alexander Segbefia will be in attendance and will address the gathering.

Several renowned academicians, medical specialists, and representatives from the public and private healthcare sector in Ghana are also expected to speak at the conference.

Other presentations will focus on scientific research work, successful collaborative work in Ghana, and how to extend quality medical education to post-graduate students in Ghana. ‘This is a very exciting time for our Foundation, as we make immense strides in communication between healthcare professionals on the continent of Africa and in the diaspora as well as providing continuous medical education to our members.

It also amplifies our commitment to the people of Ghana’ said Dr. Yao-Foli Sekyema, president of the organization.

Other major highlight of the conference is a fundraising dinner dance on Saturday, April 23rd, 2016. All are cordially invited.
