KNUST ALUMNI – 2014 North America convention

In July 2014, Greenbelt, Maryland will play host to KNUST ALUMNI – NORTH AMERICA ASSOCIATION's 2014 National Convention — a three-day event of first-class professional networking opportunities and organizational soul searching sessions. Every other year, KNUST-NA Alumni, their Ghanaian counterparts, and other Alumni in other parts of the world, affiliated members, staff and faculty from KNUST, Ghana converge at the National Convention to raise funds to support their Alma Mater. This summer, the current Presidents from North American and Ghana Chapters will host a Summit of all past and presents Presidents of the Association from North America, Ghana and the United Kingdom to explore the best practices for leveraging her core strengths to the benefit of the association. They will explore what is (and isn't) working for the associations, both in Ghana and in the Diaspora, including, but not limited to, financial support and our ability to make a lasting and significant impact on KNUST campus.
KNUST-NA association has been organizing different fundraising events since its inception in 1999 and revolved around different causes: building an Alumni Endowment Fund to supporting academic programs at the University, funding the construction of Alumni hostel and proving Alumni scholarships to needy students at KNUST. This year, the association intends to raise funds to augment the Endowment Fund and to provide scholarships to some needy students.

This year’s Keynote Speaker will be Hon. Dr. Kwame Saarah-Mensah, Ghana's Ambassador to India, and the convention will be under the distinguished chairmanship of Prof. W. O. Ellis, The Vice Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Special Guests of honor include; Prof, K.K. Adarkwa, former Vice Chancellor of KNUST; Prof. Albert Wright, former Pro-Vice chancellor of KNUST; Honorable Koby Koomson, former Ghana’s Ambassador to US; Prof. Seth O. Asiama, former President of KNUST Alumni Ghana; Mr. Tony Danklu, President KNUST Alumni Ghana; Ms. Eunice Akosua Ofosua Amoako, Gen. Secretary KNUST Alumni Ghana and Mr. Koby Mensah-Kuma, President of KNUST UK Alumni Chapter. The Vice Chancellors will give us updates and also answer questions regarding life on KNUST campus.

This year’s convention is strategic, as it is intended to create avenues to engage in connections with fellow alumni whose collaborative contributions in the topical areas of discussion topics are so critical to the future of our dear Association. Please join us at this crucial moment to contribute in the growth and development of our association, and the University and help turn things around. All ‘Technokrats’ are invited.
