Statement - NPP UK Mourns Aliu Mahama

We the members of NPP UK join the entire party to express our deepest regret for the sudden loss of our esteemed leader His Excellency Alhaji Aliu Mahama our former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana. We are still in a state of shock as this has come so sudden following the vitality which he displayed on the campaign trail just a few days ago.
We in UK of the Danquah-Dombo-Busia fraternity recall with a sense of happiness the hope he gave us our nation’s number two and the inspiration he gave us when whenever we had interactions with him. His fight against indiscipline, his sense of calmness with which he held the fort in our nation’s administration in the absence of the President JA Kufuor were all clear for all to see the kind of person we have lost.
Today we mourn with our mother Party in Ghana the loss of a true father, brother and son whose sense of patriotism stands tall for all to see. We mourn the loss of a true son of Ghana, a true political leader and a great inspirer. Our thoughts and condolences go to his family who undoubtedly have lost a father, a brother, an uncle and indeed a pillar. Our thoughts also go to the leadership of our Party who worked closely with him and who are in the forefront of arranging a befitting farewell for our beloved second gentleman of the land.
He went with songs to the battle, he was young. Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow, he went on fighting for our party. He was staunch to the end against odds uncounted. He fell with his face to the foe. He shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age did not weary him, nor did the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember him.
Alhaji Aliu has left us a time when his dream of liberating Ghanaians once again to the ideals of development in freedom is truly underway under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo and for us as a Party in opposition the only way we can honour his name is to work even harder to realise the ideals he lived and fought for all his life by winning the forthcoming elections in his name.
Let us all use Alhaji Aliu Mahama’s untimely death as the rallying point to unite all parties in our political landscape and use this unity to celebrate her life which we consider to be a gift from God.
We thank his family for giving us a son in the name of Aliu Mahama and thank God for blessing our nation with such a talent. We sincerely believe that history will judge him as our father, a patriot, the brave politician and indeed great man in modern political history.
FAREWELL!! NANTE YIE!'
