NPP Germany Elects New Officers.

Members of the New Patriotic Party in Germany gathered over the week-end in the Berlin to elect new officers to run and manage the affairs the party for the next four years. The Berlin meeting also afforded party activists and supporters an opportunity to plan and strategise for the 2012 elections in Ghana.
At the end of a keenly contested election which was supervised by Honourable Joe Ghartey Member of Parliament for Esikado and former Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Mr Dwamena Yeboah was re-elected Chairman with Mr Emmanuel Mensah as the Vice.
Mr Kwaku Appiah retained his position as the General while Mrs Posch Oduro was voted the National Organiser and the first woman to occupy that position in the history of the party and would be assisted by Mr Richard Bediako Boadu
Mrs Patience Bediako Schmidt won the position of the National Women Organiser While Oheneba Oduro Opuni was voted to take charge of the party’s financies[financial secretary].
Mr Kwaku Anane-Gyinde was unanimously elected the PRO/Director of Communication and has Mrs Christabelle Kofie as his Assistant. The post of the National Youth Organiser went to Omama Yeboah.
In a brief remark, Mr Dwamena Yeboah thanked members of the party for the confidence reposed in the newly elected executives and pledged to work hard to return the party to power in 2012.
The chairman reminded all NPP supporters, sympathisers and indeed all Ghanaians that the battle to save our country from economic collapse in 2012 begins now and all must contribute to ensure victory for the NPP.
On his part Honourable Joe Ghartey who supervised the election stated that the party recognises the external branches as an intergral and important constituency in its quest to develop and formulate policies for the country.
He urged the external branches to actively get involved in all at all levels of the party so that their concerns and views can impact and guide party policy.
On developments in Ghana, the former Attorney General said after nearly two years in office the NDC government is yet to come out with a concrete programme or policy that can move the country forward in terms of job creation and economic growth.
The Esikado MP added ’As we speak railway workers have not been paid for the last six months and many Ghanaian workers are often left wondering whether their salaries would be paid or not at the end of them month’. This clearly according to Hon Joe Ghartey is an indictment of the Atta-Mills government which have failed to deliver on all the numerous promises made to Ghanaians.
The former Attorney General was concerned and regret about the fact there are several Ministers in government today who have never worked in their lives, never earned their own money and never had any working experience but find themselves in important and sensitive positions.
This, according to Hon Joe Ghartey explains why the government seem to be lacking focus and direction adding that Ghanaians deserve a better government that has the right policies and programmes not this trial and error type of governance under the NDC.
He warned fellow party supporters that although the Ghanaians have lost confidence in the government to deliver, the NDC would try every means possible to hang on to power. It is therefore imperative for the NPP to employ all its resources to win a clear and emphatic victory in 2010.
