Saraki at Kwara Association launch in London

The umbrella body for indigenes of Nigeria's Kwara State in the United Kingdom - Kwara State Association of Nigeria in Great Britain (KWASANG) will be launched on Saturday 26th July 2008 in London.

This major milestone follows in the footsteps of the North American Chapter of KSANG who undertook this pioneering activity with reported success.

KWASANG UK is a non-for-profit association established for the promotion of educational and charitable purposes in accordance with prevailing UK association law. The association primarily aims to promote a positive image for the well-being of native Kwarans and friends of Kwara State residing in the United Kingdom and Southern Ireland. It aims to accomplish this by getting involved in the community through government-assisted and volunteer programs, promoting understanding amongst Kwarans at home and abroad, initiating and encouraging community projects, agitating for a responsible government in Kwara state, and involvement in acts that promote the unity of Nigerians all over the world. Mr Kayode Olaoye, the General Secretary of KWASANG UK described the forthcoming launch activities as an exciting and landmark opportunity to revive the spirit of togetherness and harmonious union amongst Kwarans in the United Kingdom and Southern Ireland. Describing the highlights of the forthcoming launch activities, he said, "expect to be stimulated by a rich display of culture, education and entertainment for which Kwarans are renowned".

The event will be attended by a high powered delegation of community leaders from Kwara State led by H.E Dr Bukola Saraki - the Kwara State Governor, members of the State Executive Council and some Local Government Chairmen. Tony Tetuila, a celebrated Afro-Hip star is expected to make a guest appearance at the event. Kick-off is at 3pm prompt, featuring Business Exhibitions, an Interactive Session, Cultural display, and Dinner/Dance.
