Ghanaian Women's Association Of Georgia To Be Inaugurated

Atlanta, Georgia - March 2008 --- Get ready for the exciting and long-awaited G-WAG Inauguration. Members of the Ghanaian Women’s Association of Georgia will be joined by several invited guests to celebrate the Association’s Inaugural Banquet on Saturday, April 12th, 2008.

“The turnout at our first general meeting was a good indication of our future progress. It was very exciting to see that many like-minded women who are hungry for change in the community, come together to be a part of this phenomenal movement in Georgia.” Says Pearl Aidoo, President-elect. “Within 3 months of opening our doors to the general public, the Association has tripled in size and now boasts of 34 members. That speaks volumes about the Association’s potential for growth. We are very excited about G-WAG’s future” she added.
In order to present the organization to the community, the Association is hosting its Inaugural Banquet on Saturday April 12th, 2008 at the Chattahoochee Technical College, 980 South Cobb Drive, Building H, Marietta GA 30060
The theme for the event is Imagining the Possibilities and Making a Difference. The primary objective of the event is to promote the mission and objectives of the association, as well as announce the association’s existence, campaign for support from the public, and raise funds for future projects in Ghana. Key Speakers at the event are Dr. Barbara King, aka Nana Yaa Twumwaa (Minister and founder of the Hillside Chapel and Truth Center, Inc., in Atlanta, Georgia), Jan Porubski (Social worker, prominent/active in Ghanaian affairs). Among the special guests are business leaders, leaders of other Ghanaian Associations, various queen mothers, to name but a few.
The Association began as a result of a few dynamic and progressive minded women deciding to bring change and development within the Ghanaian community both here in Georgia and in Ghana. The Association shares the belief that when a woman is empowered, she is able to invest her knowledge and resources in her children, family, and eventually, her community.
G-WAG members share a bond of affection, forged by common life experiences and a genuine enthusiasm to make a positive contribution to society and make a difference.
