Ghana Methodists Meeting on Church Planting in North America

The Lay Movement of The Methodist Church Ghana, North America will host Consultative Meeting at the Rev. Gaddiel Acquaah Memorial Methodist Church, Alexandria, Virginia to formalize structures top establish more societies of the Methodist Church Ghana in North America.

The Meeting scheduled to take place on March 29th and 30th 2008 will also train new Officers for the effective role as Officers of the Lay Movement. The agenda for the meeting as released include a teaching session on “Building Ghana Methodism in North America; the Role of the Lay Movement” aimed at equipping officers of the Lay Movement to play an effective role in the Church’s Mission

Sis Karen Essiful-Ansah, the Editor of the Methodist Herald for Builders [M.H.B] the newspaper of the Church, appealed to Ghana Methodists in the U.S and Canada to be more active in supporting efforts to expand the Church’s mission in North America. She appealed to Ghana Methodists in States such as California, Texas, Illinois, Florida, Rhode Island, Louisiana and Pennsylvania to help plant Ghana Methodist Societies to make our Church great and strong.

She appealed to all Ghana Methodists outside Ghana especially in United States and Canada to identify with the Church’s evangelistic effort of doubling its membership in five years and mobilize all efforts to bring this to fruition.

Opanin Kojo Fosu, the Lay Chairman for North America Lay Movement referred to the Church’s successful Retreat in October of 2007 and appealed to all the “Ten Commandment” Societies to stand firm for their stand. He also revealed that three Ghana Methodist societies in New York and New Jersey are working strenuously to establish a Circuit. He therefore appealed to all Societies that have resolved to be part of the North America Diocese to work to have strong circuits.

Opanin Fosu also hinted that a strong delegation would represent North America at the Connexional Conference in Ghana in August 2008 to present a resolution and case for the creation of the North America Diocese.

Opanin Fosu also appealed to Ministers and the Lay to unite for the Church in North America to grow in peace and tranquility. He also thanked Sis Esther Agbosu, the Leaders and members of the Rev. Gaddiel Acquaah Memorial Methodist Church, Alexandria, Virginia for accepting to host this historic meeting.
