Nasare Enterprises: A Young African Entrepreneur’s Vision

New York, USA -- Nana K. Asare was born in Hamburg, Germany and at the age of 10 months was sent to Ghana where he was raised by his grandparents in Accra and Kumasi. Later at the age of eight he relocated to Texas where he spent most of his life. Nana says, "I think that I'm very fortunate to have lived in different parts of the world at such a young age. The diversity of culture and experiences I've been exposed to have greatly contributed to my maturation as a person".

Mr. Asare who now resides in Harlem, New York played football, soccer and track at Texas Southern University in Houston where he received his B.S. in Biology. He later attended Columbia University's, Institute of Human Nutrition where he obtained his M.S. in Human Nutrition. To further his education he is currently pursuing an M.B.A in Finance at Long Island University in Brooklyn where he functions as the Associate Director of Wellness, Recreational, and Athletic Center. Nana's also proudly married to a future dentist, Abena Asare who attends the College of Dental Medicine at Columbia University. Together they have two small children Adjoa (3yrs) and Adom (8months) who do more of their share in keeping their parents busy.

What's interesting about this young husband and father is that he is the founder of some multifaceted companies that all complement one another even though they have very different goals. One of his companies is Nasare Enterprises, LLC founded in 2005. This organization is the parent company and functions primarily as an investment powerhouse, its goal is very simple...acquire income generating assets! Next there is Nasare Athletics which is a subsidiary of [NE] and really taps into his passion for sports. The goal of Nasare Athletics as stated by Nana "is to emerge as global force in the field of sports performance training, which ties in effectively with sports management, as well as the design, manufacturing, and marketing of athletic apparel." Lastly, there is the Nasare Sports Foundation which was founded in 2006 to serve as the bridge between international communities and sports programs, such as the 1st Annual Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Challenge Cup which will be held this summer in New York City. In addition, the foundation will also facilitate the process whereby students, parents, and families in general are educated, empowered, and introduced to health and fitness programs.

As far back as he can remember Nana, always dreamt about creating a business that caters to the needs of his people. So in 2005 he began to "channel all of his energy towards establishing enterprises that will meet the needs and the expectations of the African Diaspora". Mr. Asare says, "I realize this is a bold statement but I pray that god helps me accomplish what is in my heart. With that said, I've got to give credit where it's due, I've been very fortunate to come from a very entrepreneurial family and I give them all the credit."

Right now the current goals of his organizations are to expand the business by establishing strong partnerships with key corporate and non-corporate institutions in the U.S. as well as in Africa specifically, Ghana. In addition, they are looking to build sustainable relationships within the African community abroad by making themselves available whenever they are needed. In the near future his companies will be reinforcing their initiatives by reaching out to other organizations such as the Ghana Football Association as well as key football clubs all over Africa. Mr. Asare is also anticipating the unveiling of a new division within his organization that will be dedicated to identifying, exposing, and managing new talent coming from Africa and abroad through the Nasare Sports Management and Marketing division.

Nana says, "I'm very confident in my vision, and the talents bestowed unto me by the almighty. Like any entrepreneur I'm faced with challenges but, none that are powerful enough to deter me from the dreams and aspiration I have for myself and the community which I serve." It goes without saying that young African businessmen like Nana Asare are providing a glimpse of the next generation of Africa's best and brightest leaders.
