Wenchi citizens donate to hospital

Wenchi (B/A), May 22, GNA - The Wenchi Citizens Association in the United Kingdom has donated special delivery beds worth 44 million cedis to the Wenchi Methodist Hospital in Brong Ahafo. Making the presentation, Mr Sarfo Kantanka, Chairman, said the Association based in London, aimed at assisting citizens at home and had planned to send donations to schools and colleges in the Wenchi District.

The Right Reverend Charles Kwasi Konadu, Bishop of the Wenchi Methodist Diocese who received the items, thanked the Association for the gesture and gave the assurance that the Hospital would take good care of the beds.

Bishop Konadu, who is chairman of the Hospital's management board appealed to the Association for an ultra sound machine. Mr Bernard Clement Kwasi Botwe, Hospital Administrator, commended the government for voting two billion cedis for the construction of a new block for the Out-Patient Department (OPD) and other projects at the Hospital.

Mr Botwe announced that the Hospital was spending more than 600 million cedis to construct four apartments to accommodate doctors. He appealed to the Wenchi District Assembly, well-to-do persons, NGOs, Wenchi Traditional Council and other philanthropists to donate in kind and in cash towards the completion of the project.
