Maryland, USA -- The late Nana Owusu Oppong-Wadee Nkwantabisa was a noble man and a former soldier who contributed immensely within the Ghanaian Community in Washington Metro Area. His dealth was a shock to all and as a result, Ghanaians from around America came in their numbers to pay their last respect to the Abusuapanin. It was impressive to see the Council of Ghanaian Associations (COGA), the Asante Association in Washington Metro and ACONA (Asanteman Council Of North America) joining forces to pay their last respect.
The traditional funeral rites held at the Boys and Girls Club was very interesting as many local chiefs were present. Among the noted personalities present were; Mr. Maxwell Prempeh, President (Asante Association of Washington Metro), Nana Agyenim Boateng, Asantefuohene Washington Metro Area, Nana Ama Achiaa, Asantefuohemaa Washington Metro Area, Nana Daasebre Anane Amponsah, New York Asantefuohene, Nana Yiadom Konadu Ababio, New York Asantefuohemaa, Nana Gyeguah Acheampong, Atlanta Asantefuohene, Nana Yiadom Konadu Frempenemo, Atlanta Asantefuohemaa, Ms. Mary Damuah, Ms Rowena Moses Wadiee - Chairperson and Treasurer respectively, Council Of Ghanaian Association (COGA), Mr. Charles Ofori, Nana Asante Krobea, Okyemanhene, Nana KYK and Mr. & Mrs Bill Ampofo.
Nana Agyenim Boateng and Nana Anane Amponsah dressed in their Batakarikesie and displayed kete dances as a tribute and there were fomer armed forces personnel who came to pay their respects with a short story and salutes. David Opong-Wadee, Nana Nkwantabisa's son showed his style of kete dance as a tribute to his late father.
The late Nana Owusu Oppong-Wadee Nkwantabisa left behind Mrs. Susan Opong-Wadee (Wife), Angela Opong-Wadee, Ivy Opong-Wadee, David Opong-Wadee, Edmund Opong-Wadee Jnr. (Children). His uncle is Mr. Alex Yiadom Boakye of New Jersey.
