Voting For NDC Will Be A Disaster – Titus Glover in Denvar

The Member of Parliament for Tema East constituency, Hon. Nii Kwartey Titus Glover has said a vote for NDC to reinstate the Mahama led administration will be a disaster for all Ghanaians. According to the outspoken MP, the NDC government has failed massively by unleashing a fast-moving economic and political crisis on Ghanaians. Mr. Glover made this known to Ghanaians abroad during his recent visit to USA to pursue a short course relating employment and company corporate responsibility issues.

Speaking in local language, Twi, to the host of political show, Solomon Owusu, on Amenado Radio at Denver, Colorado, USA, the Tema East legislator stated that Ghana needs an intelligent, patriotic, strong and effective leader who is capable of changing the people from the current unprecedented hardships and that person is Nana Akuffo Addo. Titus spoke about so many problems Ghanaians are going through, including corruption, high cost of electricity, high rate of unemployment, collapse of the private sector due to power outages and high corporate taxes, high food costs, decline in the agriculture and the mining sector, disregard for rule of law, lack of security for Ghanaians especially the MPs and a lot more.

Touching on corruption, the NPP MP made it clear to Ghanaians listening to the radio from all over the world that individuals and institutions have on countless occasions been faulted for embezzlement and misappropriation of public funds but there is lack of political will to punish those indicted in the Auditor General’s report. Talking with a soft and sad voice, he said the members of the PAC in parliament only investigate corrupt reports and make recommendations to the Attorney General’s office. Unfortunately, after the hardwork done by the legislature to save the public’s purse, the Attorney General does nothing about its implementation to retrieve the ordinary tax payer’s money from such criminals. “These acts of thievery that have left unpunished, failing to serve as deterrent to others, are the causes of various corrupt practices in the country,” he said.

Following the corruption issues, he cited the likes of Woyomegate, GYEEDA, SADA, bus rebranding, etc. From his view point, 80% to 90% of the current government’s contracts are under sole sourcing and that have paved way for the escalating rate of corruption and criminality in the country. Some of the examples he gave were the buses that were bought for $200,000 each under Dzifa Attivor’s watch as the Transport Minister, the $3.6 million bus rebranding contract to Sellasie, the AMERI deal, etc. From his speech, the money used for the unnecessary bus rebranding could be used to establish some small factories in the rural areas. He questioned why Dzifa is afraid of going to jail when NPP comes to power.

On agriculture and private sector issues, Titus said these areas have completely failed under the NDC government. “The agric sector has declined to the point that Ghana now imports carrots from Togo and ‘kontomire’ from Cote d’Ivoire. The small businesses are collapsing because of the power outages, popularly known as “dumsor” and the bigger companies are folding up because of high corporate taxes coupled with lower productivity. In his delivery during the interview which lasted for over 3 hours, the communicative MP told Ghanaians abroad that God has blessed Nana Akuffo Addo and Dr. Bawumia with what it takes to change Ghana to become a better place to live and enjoy life. “I am saying this because I have moved with Nana since 1992 and I can bet that the two gentlemen have the capabilities needed to develop credible and workable alternatives that can save Ghanaians from these current challenges,” he said.
Concerning rule of law, he stated it clearly that the NDC government and its communicators don’t respect the judiciary system in the country. “If people disagree on issues, the only place they can legally seek redress is the law court and if the judicial system is disrespected, then where are we heading to?” Mr. Glover quizzed. The NDC communicators insult and threat anybody that disagrees with the EC and NDC, including the Supreme Court judges. Hon. Glover assured Ghanaians in the diaspora that the Nana Akuffo Addo led administration will restore the teacher training and nursing training allowances. He encouraged all Ghanaians living abroad to go home and vote for NPP during the elections.
