US based NGO donates to schools in Ghana

Aduamoa-Kwahu (E/R), April 23, GNA - The Aduamoa Educational Development Foundation (AEDF) a non-governmental organization based in the United States of America on Friday donated quantities of educational materials worth millions of cedis to two schools in the Kwahu South Districts.

The items including copy machine, boxes of A4 copy papers, stabilizer, jerseys and footballs, pumps, teachers' text books, copy machine toners and other sporting kits were presented to Aduamoa Presbyterian and Catholic Junior Secondary Schools.

Presenting the items, Mr Charles V. Anim, President of AEDF urged the teachers to motivate pupils to adopt reading habits, stressing that, "reading by nature demands a personal effort and the availability and constant supplies of supplementary readers".

He said a special effort should be employed on the part of the teacher to make the JSS children have inquiring minds. "Teachers must instil in our children good morals by selecting suitable story books that touch on virtues and diversified themes that interest children," he said.

Mr Anim said the foundation attached importance to the human development in every aspect and pledged their support in that direction for the promotion of education in the district. He said it was the desire of the Foundation to help in promoting education in the country, especially in Kwahu South District to accelerate its advancement.

He said the assistance was geared towards ensuring that as many pupils as possible, were trained and equipped to understand modern way of life.

Nana Onini Afari II Chief of Aduamoa expressed gratitude to the Foundation and said the provision of adequate textbooks and other logistics to schools had been one of the major problems of the people in the district.

He said the gesture would enhance quality education in the district and appealed for more contributions.

The Kwahu South District Director of Education, Mr Alfred Osei received the items on behalf of the beneficiary schools. The ceremony was witness by parents, pupils, assemblymen, the Kwahu South District Chief Executive and a cross section of the public.
