UPDATE: Concerned Ghanaians to Demonstrate in Washington D.C.

We would like to remind the general public that, the planned demonstration by Concerned Ghanaians resident in the USA is coming-off tomorrow, Friday, March 15, 2013 – as scheduled.

This demonstration, THEMED “Don’t Make Mockery of Ghana’s Democracy, Let My Vote Count”, has details as follow:

VENUE: Lafayette Park, North East Quadrant and the White House Sidewalk

TIME: from 11:00am to 3:00pm EST.

OBJECTIVES

1. To bring awareness to our partners and the larger international community the impending electoral challenge of the 2012 elections at the Supreme Court of Ghana.

2. To inform the international community that the court case has the potential of setting a democratic path for most African countries and their leaders regarding resolution of electoral irregularities and disputes in courts, instead of resorting to conflicts which may bring Ghana to the brink of civil strife and violence.

3. To ask the international community to have adequate interest in the case and ensure that the judicial processes meet international legal standards.

4. To assure and inform the Justices of the Ghana Supreme Court to adjudicate the case in the fairness of manner without fear for their lives and/or that of their families.

We are glad to state that, we have received numerous calls from scores of discerning Ghanaians – from a number of States – who have confirmed and affirmed their commitment to participate in this legitimate and fundamental process.

However, we would still like to encourage more others who have not yet made up their mind to come out in their numbers, and show solidarity in defending and shaping the democratic tenets in our country – now, and in the future.

Fellow Ghanaians, see you there!

God bless our homeland, Ghana!
