Towards Election 2012… ‘Stop biometric registration’

The New Patriotic Party United Kingdom’s branch has raised red flags on the clandestine biometric registration of Ghanaian students in the UK by the Electoral Commission (EC).

The party notes with worry that it has through various media networks and sources confirmed that the EC had secretly brought over biometric machines to register people in the UK.

A press release signed by the branch’s Communication Officer, Nana Yaw Sarpong, and copied to Today alleged that the EC through the process was registering some Ghanaians whose immigration status is even under question.

“We wish to inform Dr. Afrari Gyan and his allies in the ruling National  Democratic Congress that no amount of underhand tactics, communist inferior tactics, and perpetuation of illegality will prevent the people of Ghana taking a wise decision to change the government on 7th December, 2012.”

The statement dared the NDC that if it taught it had done a good job for Ghanaians…“Why don’t they test this by implementing Representation of People’s Amendment Law (ROPAL), which was passed under the previous NPP government which is on the statute books and gives every Ghanaian living abroad the right to vote?”

The statement recounted that incumbent government in African countries such as Senegal, Niger, Zambia, and Cote D’Ivoire “tried these dirty tricks but fell in the end,” further warning that the current NDC government will not be spared.”
