Ten Thousand Dollars Support For Daboya

A SON of Daboya in the Northern Region domiciled in the US has offered Ten Thousand Dollars towards the construction of a senior high school in the West Gonja District Assembly.

Mr. Suraz Ibrahim said he hoped the money he had provided would help start this important educational project so that children in the area can avail themselves of the opportunities education provides for individuals and the community as a whole.

Present at the presentation ceremony was the DCE for Gonja West District, Mr. Adam Mutawakilu who promised that next year, efforts would be made to allocate some funds from the budgetary allocation so the construction of a senior high school would commence.

"I am a citizen of Daboya and now living in the United States of America, and wish to crave the kind indulgence of the West Gonja District Assembly to consider establishing a Senior High School at Daboya to serve the entire Daboya Constituency, which at the moment, has no Senior High School" Suraz said during the presentation.

"It is pathetic to note that most brilliant Junior High graduates in the Constituency, upon completing the Junior High schools are unable to continue their education because their parents are poor and cannot afford to sponsor their children to attend senior high Schools located in far away Tamale or Damongo. These unfortunate children eventually become underprivileged and unemployed," he said adding that, "In order to offer senior high education to these unfortunate junior high graduates in the Daboya Constituency, it is necessary that a senior high school is established at Daboya.

"It is therefore in this connection that I am making a donation of ten thousand us dollars towards the establishment of a Senior High School at Daboya", Suraz stated.
