Super Kente Dance In New York

Kojo Bonsu, Publisher of Agoo magazine is a trendsetter who started a movement which has taken the world by storm. That movement is the "Kente Dance" and many people have imitated his concept and that is not a bad idea but promoting the famous Ghanaian piece of fabric. Ever since he started The Kente Dance in Toronto, it has become a yearly event sweeping all corners of the world.

Fresh from the success of his mega-outdoor party featuring thousands of people from all over the world as well as being the most expensive outdoor party in Ghana, the same media guru has taken his movement to the Big Apple, New York. This particular event has been billed; the Super Kente Dance in celebration of the Golden Jubilee. This is the third Kente Dance to hit New York in the last two months and because it is the last one, it is going to be huge.

The Super Kente Dance is already creating a buzz because it is taking place at the heart of New York, the fabulous and reputable Manhattan Center. Many people have been rushing to get tickets in order to be a part of this celebration.

The event is happening on May 26th, 2007 and the Manhattan Center, which is located on 311 W 34th St, New York (Between 8th & 9th Ave), 10PM-4AM.

The heavy hitters who will be entertaining the massive crowd are; Daddy Osei, Brooklyn's Pioneer DJ and Elove, a cut above the rest. The Master of Ceremonies will be the loveable and interesting "Papa Linc". Admission is $50 (Take advantage) in advance and $60 at the door. It is going to be all night dance affair with minimal interuptions.

As many of you know Kente is a celebrated cultural icon in Ghana. Ghanaians are very proud to see its exploits and embrace in the 21st century by our kith and kin in the Diaspora, especially on college campuses and in African American dominant churches where strips of Kente cloth are worn as sashes to grace major important occasions.

To this end, Ladies and Gentleman, let us give a huge round of applause for Kojo Bonsu and the organizers of the First Super Kente Dance in New York. This is the first time such an event is taking place at the Manhattan Center and it is never going to be underestimated. The Kente Dance is promoting the fashion as well as putting money in the pockets of weavers as demands for the Kente cloths has skyrocketed.
