Solidarity Message By 31st December Women’s Movement United Kingdom

The UK International Branch of the 31st December Women’s Movement would like to register its utmost support for its National President Mrs Nana Konadu Agyeman–Rawlings for her bold and brave decision to stand for the Flagbearership of the NDC Party

This message is billed as a call to all to campaign for our President Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings to win the Flagbearership of the NDC Party On 9th July 2011. It is also time of unity of action and joint effort to achieve unity in the party.

We firmly believe that the role Nana Konadu has played in re-shaping the face of politics in the NDC and in Ghana over the past 29years has made invaluable and notable contributions to the lives of women, children and Ghanaians generally.

We believe that Ghana cannot progress effectively if women are not encouraged to participate in leadership roles and prevented from leadership contests. Mrs Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings over the years has demonstrated beyond doubt that she is one of Africa’s most socially progressive and influential female politicians. Over the years, she has exhibited good leadership qualities as an experienced mother of a nation.

She is a trail blazer , pace setter and a dynamic woman of the 21st Century; one who continues to change lives and passionately reaches out to those in need.

Mrs Peace Aryee, Chair of the UK Branch of The 31st DWM of Ghana, said “Ghana must be a global champion for women leadership. I am therefore urging all women and well wishers to rally behind Mrs Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings at this particular point in time.”

Harriet Harman, Deputy Leader of the Labour Party–UK and Shadow Deputy Prime Minister on the recent occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the International Women’s Day, said “We cannot have purely male leadership on issues of concern to men and women”.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings’ resolve to address and transform this gender challenges in Ghana, Africa and the world is just and right.

Nana Konadu, we admire your determination, devotion and dedication. We are solidly behind you and assure you of our support and commitment at all times. You are the real change for NDC and a beacon of hope for future Ghana. Yes you can do it; go for it. Victory is yours.
