Philanthropist donates computers to institutions

Kumasi, May 25, GNA - Mr Philip Mornah, a Ghanaian based in Norway, has donated four computers and accessories valued at over 20 million cedis to some institutions and communities in the Kumasi metropolis. The beneficiaries include Ahenema Kokoben D/A Primary and JSS, which had two computers, whilst Sepe Tinpom Community and the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service also had one each. Mr Monah also donated two computers and accessories valued at 10 million cedis to the Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre in Kumasi on Tuesday.

At separate ceremonies to donate the computers, he said the donation was his modest contribution to support the effort of the government at promoting the use of computers to enhance activities and programmes in all schools and other institutions.

Mr Monah, who is an employee of the Adressavise Company, a newspaper company in Norway, commended the company for supporting him to purchase the computers.

Mr John Ernest Amponsah, Deputy Ashanti Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare, who received the computers, thanked the donor for the gesture and hoped to make good use of them. He said the donation to the Centre would be a motivation to the students to enable them become computer literate.

Mr Modesto Ayiwole, Manager of Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre, appealed to the government to improve the facilities at the Centre to increase the enrolment of students.
