Old Mawuli Students Union – North America Supports Alma-Marta.

For the past 5 years, the old Mawuli Students Union-North America ( OMSU-NA) has been supporting their alma-mater with items such as computers, books, medical supplies, and renovation of facilities that house these items through annual fundraising activities.

This year, the alumni has scheduled a dinner-dance as part of their annual congress, at the elegant Levy Senior Center, 241 Canterbury Lane, Bolingbrook, Illinois , on Saturday, May 26 2007 at 7 pm. The event is to help raise funds for the ongoing development projects they are undertaking at Mawuli School, Ho, in the Volta Region of Ghana.

For the fifty-seven years of its existence as a high school or secondary school, Mawuli School has educated many youth. The school desperately needs help in continuing the educational programs and maintenance of educational facilities for the youth in the region and Ghana in general.

Mawuli School, like many other schools in Ghana, finds it difficult to obtain adequate funding for its programs in an environment of severe national budgetary constraints as it strives to face the future challenges of educating an ever-increasing population of young girls and boys.

OMSU-NA has taken up the challenge of supporting the school in various ways as it repositions itself to keep providing the best education possible to students from all over Ghana and Africa. Members of OMSU-NA realize that they cannot do this alone; therefore, they are enlisting your support in reaching their goals.

Ticket for the event is $50 per person. Donations in any amount are very welcome. Even if you cannot attend the event, please make a check out to OMSU-NA and mail to 746 S. Lyman Ave., Oak Park, IL 60304.Your donations are tax-deductible under the United States Internal Revenue Service Code (501 (c)(3).

The program is lined up with a lot of fun activities and a surprise top DJ in the Chicago area will surely keep revelers on their toes all night.

Your popular Ghana Home page, ghanaweb, will cover the event.
