Okwahuman Association in Switzerland donate ambulances

The Okwahuman Association in Switzerland, shipped 2 (two) modern ambulances designated to the Atibie Government Hospital in Kwahu traditional area, and the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital .in Ashanti- Akim. (See photos)

A statement issued by the Association and signed by its President, Dr. Abena Adjepong, indicated that the ambulance being allocated to Agogo Hospital in Ashanti region is part of the association’s demonstrative program aimed at promoting unity in Ghana.

“Both ambulances will serve useful purposes and go a long way to supplementing Ghana 'Government's efforts to up-grade health standards of its citizens”, it declared

Speaking in a telephone interview later, Dr. Adjepong shed additional light on the Okwahuman Association's collaboration with the West African Rescue Association (WARA), a non-profit Organization based in Ghana.

(WARA implements a rescue system of the highest possible standards in developing countries, making it possible to evacuate seriously injured persons, providing them also with the best medical treatment and most gentle transportation possible on a 24hour, 7days a week basis). .

Dr. Adjepong explained that the collaboration of Okwahuman association with experienced Rescue Team like WARA, would ensure that, some of its "German Standard Emergency Rescue expertise" be imparted to the paramedics and medical Staff of the Atibie and Agogo Hospitals in the form of a training and maintenance program .

The collaborative efforts will additionally promote the effective use and sustainability of the Ambulance Project initiated by the Okwahuman Association, which undoubtedly is a non-tribal, and embraces people from all walks-of life including Swiss Nationals, she said, adding “our basic goals and objectives are to promote specifically educational and health welfare of the people of the Kwahu traditional area and Ghana as a whole.

Dr. Adjepong mentioned that she is in consultations with its executive, which holds its emergency meeting in Zurich on Saturday, 21st.October, 2006, ."I might fly to Ghana to oversee the arrangements, presentation and the training program of the personnel.
