After a year-long hustle and bustle, members of the Odo Na Asomdwee Kuw, a Ghanaian society in the USA took a day off on Christmas’ eve to celebrate their annual get-together in Alexandria, Virginia in the USA.

Members of the association used the occasion to reflect on their activities during the year 2011, and also to thank God for protecting and guiding them throughout the year without any problem or calamity.

The Chairman of Odo Na Asomdwee Kuw, Mr. Ekow Dennis, lauded members of the society for exhibiting unity and togetherness during the past years. He explained that the society was formed about seven years ago with a handful of Ghanaian immigrants living in the Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC area, but now the society has grown stronger with more and committed members from other States in the USA. The Chairman used the occasion to invite new members to join the society. “Life in the diaspora is very challenging, it is therefore worthy for all Ghanaians living in the USA and other places outside Ghana to come together as brothers and sisters so that we can all be our brother’s keeper in times of need” he added.

The Welfare Officer and Chaplain of the society, Mr. Peter Bentil entreated members to put their trust in God in every aspect of their daily activities. “We must all be grateful to God for protecting us throughout the year and giving us life to see this day”, he implored.

Members and invited guests were treated to old school and contemporary Ghanaian highlife and gospel music by DJ Kofi Frimpong, one of the best Ghanaian deejays in the USA.

Typical of a Ghanaian gathering, a variety of mouth-watering Ghanaian food was served to the satisfaction of the crowd.
