Oda union in Hamburg assists hospital

Akyem Oda (E/R), Dec. 20, GNA- Mr Frank Kwame Busumtwi, the Birim South District Chief Executive (DCE) on Wednesday inaugurated a 1,800 Euro (about 21.7 million cedis) borehole at the Akyem Oda Government hospital.

The Akyem Oda Union in Hamburg, Germany provided the facility as their contributions towards supplementing government's efforts in making the hospital a centre of excellence.

Mr Busumtwi commended the union for their sense of patriotism and urged their counterparts in other countries to emulate them. He said the government alone would not be able to provide the hospital with all its needs; little contributions from the citizens both home and abroad were welcome.

Mr Busumtwi advised the union to take advantage of the stable prevailing economic climate in the country to invest in other areas that would help generate employment for the youth.

Mrs Cynthia Kobina, an executive member of the union in a message delivered on behalf of the President, Mr Alexander Franke-Durrbano, expressed the hope that their little contribution would solve the perennial water shortage at the hospital.

He assured the hospital management of the commitment of the union to donate some hospital equipment to the hospital soon. In another development, 40 students of the Oda Secondary School on Wednesday donated blood to the Oda hospital.

Mrs Felicia Darko, Senior Laboratory Technologists who supervised the donation commended the students for the gesture and appealed to others especially the adult population to emulate them.
