North America NDC Goes To Atlanta Dec. 2

At the just-ended meeting of NACC-NDC, delegates unanimously chose Atlanta as the next venue for NACC-NDC Pre-Congress Meeting in preparation for the NDC Flagbearer Congress of December 16, 2006 at the La Trade Fair Center. The Atlanta pre-congress NACC-NDC Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, December 2nd, 2006. The special meeting of the North America Coordinating Council of the National Democratic Congress of Ghana NACC-NDC took place at the Holiday Inn, Carteret, New Jersey on Saturday, October 21, 2006. It was a well attended enthusiastic meeting of NDC party faithful.

The meeting fine-tuned fundraising strategies to help NACC-NDC make substantial financial contributions to the National Democratic Congress in Ghana to ensure NDC victory in the 2008 elections. Delegates made impressive presentations on behalf of their chapters and that generated a lot of lively discussions and pointers as to the best fundraising strategies. Innovative ideas on membership drive were adopted to boost the membership base of the organization. The mandate of the conflict resolution team of NACC-NDC was renewed and the first-ever chairman of NACC-NDC was unanimously confirmed as its leader. The two organizational cornerstones of unity and peace in the National Democratic Congress in Ghana were re-affirmed to ensure that the NDC emerges from the December 16, 2006, flagbearer congress to assure victory in the 2008 elections. The meeting voted and agreed for the formation of a committee to revise the existing bye-laws and organizational chart of NACC-NDC. The establishment of NACC-NDC Coalition as the primary fundraising umbrella to support whoever emerges as the Flag bearer of NDC was enthusiastically embraced after delegates lauded its rationale.

The meeting noted with strong reservations untoward activities of antagonists of NDC Founder, former President J.J. Rawlings and their continued unsuccessful campaign to malign and lie about him in print and on Radio with impunity. The delegates further noted that such falsehoods have recently been intensified and centered on the visit of the Founder of the NDC to Chicago. NACC-NDC resolved to oppose these enemies of the truth and inform all and sundry that NDC in North America remains steadfast in defense of the ideals and spirit of Jerry John Rawlings, NDC founder and the cause of NDC.

The Denver delegates who were held up by flight scheduling, called to express their regret for their inability to be present. Leaders of Denver NDC spoke powerfully in their telephone conferencing with delegates of their readiness to help bring NDC back to power in 2008. The meeting received calls from stalwart NDC members in Abuja-Nigeria, Ghana and other dedicated members in North America who could not be physically present with messages of solidarity and goodwill.

The special meeting expressed disquiet about the NPP government?s silence on the role of ROPAL in the 2008 elections. Participants noted that NPP should not be allowed to implement ROPAL at the last minute without adequate preparation to empower all qualified Ghanaians. Delegates further noted that NPP rigging schemes must be challenged vigorously for the true will of the people to be manifested in 2008. Consequently, the delegates served notice that unlike 2004, NDC would go all out to resist any unlawful attempts by NPP to rig the 2008 elections. NACC-NDC calls upon all Ghanaians to vote massively for the NDC in 2008 for real, genuine positive change and prosperity for the average Ghanaian.
