Nduom at Virginia

DR. PAPA KWESI NDUOM, MP AT A FUND RAISING PICNIC ORGANISED BY THE CITIZENS FOR A BETTER GHANA IN VIRGINA ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 25, 2007

Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, MP spoke at a fund raising picnic in Virginia organized and sponsored by Citizens for a Better Ghana, a non-partisan organization dedicated to identifying and supporting people who can lead Ghana to become free from poverty. Citizens for a Better Ghana, has chapters throughout North America, Europe, Ghana and South Africa. The Washington, DC chapter organizes monthly events to encourage its members and supporters to strengthen Dr. Nduom’s campaign to become the next President of the Republic of Ghana.

Dr. Nduom repeated his long held belief that “…a lot can be accomplished in Ghana if we do not care who takes the credit”. He asked his supporters to follow his positive path – no insults or negative campaigning of any type. “Ghanaians know the conditions they live in. They know the difficulties they are in. They know the challenges they face as they seek better jobs, a better health care system, a decent roof over their heads, good drinking water, electricity and other social infrastructure and a social safety net in times of need. What they need is someone to offer hope that the quality of their lives will improve soon. What they need is someone who can implement solutions that can and will bring benefits quickly to all Ghanaians. I am here to offer myself as that someone.”

To him, the blame game some politicians are currently engaged in does not help Ghanaians and he will not be a part of it. Since 1993, Ghana has benefited from multi-party democracy. Dr. Nduom told the meeting that he considers himself a Team Builder and a Unifier both in business and in politics. He added that “Ghanaians are tired of divisive politics. I believe strongly in inclusiveness. My experience as a CPP person in an NPP administration has given me the strength and the ability to reach out to other political party members to find a common ground in solving national issues.

To Dr. Nduom, “We need a leader with experience in government who will focus on solving our problems and implementing ideas to free our people from poverty now. I believe I am that leader.”

With regard to the much anticipated CPP Congress to elect a new national executive and a flag bearer, Dr. Nduom called on all to be patient with the Party as it is for the first time since 1992 actively recruiting new members and encouraging them to participate in ward and constituency elections. Membership registers are also being prepared for every constituency so that the Party can know its numerical strength. The constituency and regional elections should be completed by the end of September to prepare the ground for a very successful national congress.

Dr. Nduom was confident that he will be elected the CPP’s flag bearer, saying “… I have known, worked, visited, supported and assisted our foot soldiers for more than 12 years. I have helped many Parliamentary Candidates. I have actively recruited new members for the Party. I am the only candidate for flag bearer who has tested himself and had success in building the most active constituency for the CPP in the country.” The Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem constituency has an active, registered membership of about 1,500.

Dr. Francis Dickson the President of the Citizens for a Better Ghana in the Washington, DC area asked members to recruit others to join the organization. He appealed to them to make financial contributions to support Dr. Nduom’s campaign, noting that politics needs money.

Dr. Nduom outdoored a booklet “Nduom for President 08 … A Free and Prosperous Ghana” which clearly explains his approach to leading Ghana to become a well performing country.
