NPP will win 70% of votes - Dr. Boahene Donates

Dr. Kwasi Boahene, the Chairman of NPP Utrecht-Holland has donated 5 Compaq computers and Hewlett-Packard printers and accessories worth about 50 million cedis to the Eastern Regional Branch of the NPP at a ceremony in Koforidua this Monday. The ceremony was attended by the political heavy weights in the Region such as Regional Chairman of NPP (Nana Adi Ankamah), Eastern Regional Minister (Dr. Osafo Mensah), Deputy Regional Minister, District Chief Executive of Kwahu, Municipal Chief Executive of Koforidua, NPP executives from the 3 Kwahu Constituencies Abetifi, Nkawkaw and Mpraeso and Party faithfuls.

Presenting the items, Dr. Boahene, a Development Economist-based in Holland and a renowned Traditionalist and an Oxonian said that he is convinced President Kufour will win 70% of the general elections to be held in December this year. He said the issue is not whether or not the NPP will win but the issue is by how many seats. These items were his widow's mite to help NPP achieve greater heights in the December elections. He presented the items to the Eastern Regional Branch of the NPP for two reasons. First, he wants to support the good work of the Eastern Regional Office of the NPP. Secondly, he said that three of the computers and printers should be given to the 3 constituencies in Kwahu District because he is from Kwahu and as he puts it "charity begins at home". Dr. Boahene also plans to support the Akropong School for the Blind and other educational institutions.

Dr. Boahene, a die-hard NPP support is a columnist for the Statesman, and writes every week under the column "FACE to FACE". Supporters from NPP and NDC do agree to an objectivity in his writing. In his latest article, he decried the lackluster performance of the NRC (National Reconciliation Commission) when Captan Kojo Tsikata and Flt. Lt. Rawlings appeared there.

Nana Adi Ankamah (the Regional Chairman of NPP) received the items on behalf of the Party and promised Dr. Boahene that the items would be put into good use. He said that if NDC wants to embark on hooliganism, the NPP will meet them by scientific means. Nana Adi Ankamah prayed for peace but was quick to emphasize that the NDC must be made to understand that any tactic that they want to employ the NPP can match them. Nana Adi Ankamah has been, in the past, voted as the best Regional Chairman of the NPP.

On his part, the Eastern Regional Minister thanked Dr. Boahene for the gifts and said that they show that NPP is being equipped for the elections, and it is on its way to victory. The Minister said that NDC is no match for the NPP but what he foresees is that "NPP is trying to beat itself", possibly referring to some internal differences in some few constituencies.

Dr. Boahene, quite known for his traditional religious views, did not oppose to the opening prayer and the blessing of the event by a Christian preacher.
