NPP-USA Donates Computers To Party

The General Secretary of NPP-USA Dr. Philip Bannor on Monday presented laptop and desk top computers to the Mother Party at its Assylum Down Headquarters in Accra. Present to receive the hardware were Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey and General Secretary Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie flanked by other members including Jermaine Nkrumah and Eugene Ofori from the party’s United States Branch.

In a short speech Dr. Bannor reiterated NPP-USA’s continued commitment to continually support the party’s grassroots effort towards success at the polls in 2012. "We know the party needs financial resources, boots on the ground, and yes, technology to aid in ensuring a free and fair electoral process, and NPP-USA commits to supporting our party in any way we can," Bannor said. As for the electioneering campaign, the USA General Secretary announced a global drive led by Charles Amo Asante to bring in an estimated 6,000 volunteers to help train polling booth agents.

Dr. Bannor took the opportunity to recognize the effective leadership of NPP-USA Chairman Nana Agyei Yeboah, and gave particular credit to Augustine Blay, the IT Coordinator for the branch whose unrelenting efforts made it possible to collect enough computers from the different city and state chapters to equip all ten regional offices of the party.

On his part the visibly grateful Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey thanked NPP-USA for its kind gesture. He acknowledged the responsiveness with which the external branches, particularly NPP-USA has shown, and promised to continue his inclusive leadership style that many credit with eliciting elevated contributions from the party’s external branches.

"The party really appreciates the kind gesture of NPP-USA," Obetsebi-Lamptey said. These computers would be put to good use to help us wrestle power from the NDC." General Secretary Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie, promised that in addition to the ten regional offices, the remaining computers would be deployed to areas where the need is most dire.
