NPP Stands tall in Italy

A national 2-day conference of the External Branch of NPP in Italy was held at the Southern Part, city of Palermo on the Italian Island of Sicily on the 12/13th of December 2009. The theme adopted for the conference was “Re-organization in Unity to Recapture”

The conference was attended by the executives and members from 10 Chapters of the Party spread across the country.

After the initial welcome speeches and felicities by the Chairman of the occasion and Chairman of the host Chapter Mr. Alexander Osei Minkah, Mr. George Annor the Interim Chairman of the Party in Italy and all representatives of the various Chapters in Italy, the conference launched into the business proper of the day.

Important decisions taken at the conference included adoption of the newly amended constitution of NPP, formulation of By-Laws on elections and finance for NPP-Italy, on-line registration of all members of NPP-Italy under the auspices of the various Chapters, a national programme for 2010, strategies for membership drive in Italy and for the establishment of an Election Fund for NPP Italy for the 2012 Elections in Ghana. Pledges of financial contributions were made by members during the conference with the highest pledge of 5,000 Euros coming from an Unanimous member.

An election committee was established during the conference to organize election in the history of the Party for the first time in Italy. Mr. Albert Obeng Yeboah, a Political Science student of the University of Palermo was elected to chair the election committee.

A peace committee was also established to see to the ironing out of all differences amongst members in the Party in Italy. The meeting ended on a very happy and peaceful note with members fully satisfied about the outcome of this historic conference. A dinner party was held to climax the occasion at the Valdese Hotel in Palermo-Italy

“It can be concluded that the outcome of this conference was very fantastic to foster growth and organizational effectiveness. We have been able to put things in order, and constitutionally we have set the necessary organs in place to move the party forward” was the comments of Mr. Alexander Osei Minkah during an interview with a local radio station.
