NPP Elects New Executives In Holland

At a packed meeting held at the Augustinus College in Amsterdam on Sunday 15th 2007, the Holland Branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) elected a new executive to lead and direct the party’s activities in Holland. As an overseas branch this formidable team is tasked to link with other executive groupings in Ghana and the Diaspora, to propel the party to electoral victory in 2008. The meeting which was purposefully meant to revitalize the moral of Diaspora party members, overwhelmingly elected the shy looking but very articulating political voice, Mr. Kobby Annan as the new chairman. Mr. Kobby Annan is a known active and vocal personality in the Ghanaian-Dutch media fraternity. He is also known in the Holland community as a vibrant defender and advocate of the NPP and Kufour’s government policies.

Other elected executive members are Mr. James A. K. Nuamah, (The Hague based politician) 1st Vice Chairman, Mr. Amoako Gyampah, 2nd Vice Chairman, Mr. Charles Owusu Ansah, Secretary, Mr. Yaw Owusu, Deputy Secretary, Mr. J. A. Amoo Treasurer, Mr. Desmond Mensah, Youth Organiser, Mrs. Anna Oduro Asare, Women Organiser, Ms. Kesewaa Ampadu Minta, Deputy Women Organiser, Mr. Osei Tutu Banahene, Party Organizer and Mr. Krobea Asante as Porter.

The election was supervised by Dr. (Mrs.) Grace Amposah Ababio, Ghana’s ambassador to the Netherlands, who also swore the new executive into office. In her brief advice to the executive and all the party members, Dr. (Mrs.) Grace Amposah Ababio pressed upon the executive to close their ranks and be focused on performing their duties. She asked the members to demonstrate democratic practices among themselves and in their dealings with executive. The Ambassador urged all Ghanaians in Holland to register with the Ghana Mission to facilitate the Mission’s assistance to them when and wherever need arises.

The new secretary, Mr. Charles Owusu, in a brief speech made to the house on behalf of the newly elected executive, expressed their commitment to the task ahead and stressed that the aims and objectives of the NPP Holland is to foster democracy and socio economic development in Ghana and through creating political awareness among Ghanaians in the Diaspora.
