In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman, Dr. Bismark Sarfo who is a Senior Research Fellow at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, expressed his deep appreciation to the delegates and called for unity, dedication, hard work and a common sense of purpose as the party consolidates its political gains and prepares for the 2012 elections. He was very pleased with the high morale exhibited by members as evidenced in their high level of enthusiasm during the elections, and advised them to keep up the spirit in winning more souls for the party so that together, they will be able to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor Mr. Tony Amuzu.

The elected officers took turns to pledge their readiness to work for the general good of the party in ensuring that the Better Ghana Agenda of the Government is achieved.

Mr. Sammy Osei, NDC Parliamentary candidate for Abuakwa South constituency during the 2008 elections, who was elected the Vice Chairman of NDC Atlanta, stressed the need to effectively communicate successes chalked by the government to refute the misrepresentation of facts by the opposition. Government programs and their impact on poverty reduction and job creation, he mentioned, must form the basis of the Chapter’s membership drive. His views were backed by Mr. Edem Kplivi.
Mr. Felix Bansah (Togbe Krakani IV of Adaklu Helekpe and a Divisional Chief of Adaklu Traditional Area) and Dr. Sarfo were full of praise for Mr. Richard Aikins, the newly elected Public Relations Officer and owner of Richjane Event Hall for his enormous contribution and support for the Branch since its inception. Mr. Aikins pledged his continuous unflinching material and moral support to the NDC-Atlanta in particular and the parent organization in Ghana in general.

Officer Ben Hotor, a Ghanaian serving in the US army reminded the newly elected executives to bear in mind that their assumption in office is a call to serve the party and not the other way round. The election was supervised and coordinated by Mr. Felix Bansah and Dr. Kafui Agbeke, who consults for Habitat for Humanity and is also the CEO of Divine Intervention.

The delegates’ conference ended with a unified pledge of the entire membership, to ensure a resounding victory for the party in the 2012 elections.
