Medical student from UK donates to hospitals

Pramso (Ash), Aug. 15, GNA - Mr Andrea Bloomfield, a medical student of the Ninewells Medical School in the United Kingdom (UK), has donated cash and medical equipment, worth eight million cedis to two hospitals in the Ashanti Region.

The recipient hospitals are the Kumasi South Hospital at Kyirapatre and the Saint Michael's Catholic Hospital at Pramso; during separate presentation ceremonies, they received non-drug consumables, quantities of sphygnonometers (for the measuring of blood pressure), digital thermometers and a cash of 400,000 cedis each.

Making the presentation, Mr Bloomfield, who had already undergone a six-week elective training at the Kumasi South Hospital, said his experience in working at the hospital brought him face to face with the plight of the sick and in course of the training, solicited the donation from his people at the Ninewells College and the Castle Douglas Community, all in Scotland.

Madam Elizabeth Oduro Birago, acting Head of Nursing Department, Kumasi South Hospital, thanked Mr Bloomfield and other donors for the gesture.

She called on other philanthropist to emulate the example and endeavour to identify health facilities, which actually needed help and respond to their needs.
