Accra, Aug. 15, GNA - Citizens of La and Teshie in the UK have for the first time jointly celebrated the Homowo Festival in London. The celebration is a prelude to a joint Homowo festival of all Ga Dangme groups in the UK.

A statement from the Ghana High Commission said this year's event took a national outlook with the participation of representatives of various ethnic groups in the UK.

Highlights of the celebration were the procession of chiefs and elders; pouring of libation; traditional drumming and dancing and the sprinkling of "Kpokpoi".

Prominent dignitaries at the celebration included La Mantse, Nii Kpobi Tsuru III; the London La Mantse, Nii Lomotey Akrabatsa; Ghana's High Commissioner to the UK, Mr Isaac Osei and the Chairman of the Ghana Union (London), Mr Ima Plahar.

Welcoming Nii Akrabatsa thanked the citizens of the areas for joining hands in unity to celebrate the festival.

He said the occasion should remind all citizens of the areas of the need to forge ahead in unity for the common good of the people. Nii Kpobi Tsuru said the occasion should remind all citizens of the areas to renew their fellowship with one another and more significantly, strengthen their faith and rededicate themselves to the service of the nation.
